Harris throws 3-hitter as Angels beat Braves

In the game of the week in Auburn Little League Majors baseball action, the Placer Sierra Bank Angels topped the Tanko Well Drilling Braves 8-4 at a crowded Beggs Field.
For the Angels, the winning pitcher was Max Harris with nine strikeouts and only three hits allowed. Harris, Jesse Danielewicz, Matt Ross, and Blake Schafer each had two hits and Jake Lopez had a base hit along with Jon Slane.
In the field, Ross also caught a line drive in the third inning, Lopez played catcher and made a great tag out on a throw from Cody Van Riper, Danielewicz played shortstop and Lane Tuner played center field, and each caught a fly ball. Van Riper was strong at first base with three unassisted outs.
For the Braves, the pitcher was Peter Benedict, who pitched all six innings with eight strikeouts. Benedict also hit a double in the fourth.
Bobby Henning put the Braves on the scoreboard with a two-run-homer, then Kyle Mathson, who also had a base hit in the fifth inning, and Henning both walked, and Brandon Roskelley hit a double to drive both in.
Angels 10, Elks Lodge #1691 Pirates — This time for the Angels, their first pitcher was Danielewicz, with five innings and only three hits. For the sixth inning, Van Riper took over. Also, Lane Turner mad a great catch in center field to end the third inning, and Lopez made a good catch on a fly ball in the sixth inning. Danielewicz was 3-for-4 with a base hit and two doubles, Ross got on base three times and scored every time, Harris had a two-run homer, and Christian Godsey had a base hit.
For the Pirates, Chad Redfearn, who also had a base hit, pitched all six innings, striking-out six batters. Stuart Ballew caught two balls, a fly in the fourth innings, and a line drive in the fifth.
Carl Lipsmeyer threw two great plays to first baseman Griffin Quick, and Austin Maynard caught a fly ball and threw in two runners in the sixth to end the game.
Also, in a game against the Auburn’s 20/30 Club Cubs, the Pirates won 8-5. In turn, the Cubs played the Brave and lost 3-12.
Anchor Roofing White Sox 4, Edgewood Veterinary Clinic Yankees 3 — In this game, for the Yankees, Jordan Arndt pitched three shut-out innings, and Nathan Johnston and Travis Wright each had two base hits.
As for the White Sox, Spencer Zaputil pitched six innings, striking out six, while going 2-for-3 at the plate. Tim Bendana had a single and a double scoring twice. Maikey Robbins hit a double that scored two to tie the game, while Wes Kile had two base hits and one RBI. To finish off, Michael Bell had the game-winning RBI with a double in the bottom of the seventh.
The White Sox also played against and defeated the Auburn Journal Indians 9-3. As well, the Auburn Journal Indians also lost to the Nations Rent Giants 2-4.
Giants 3, Yankees 2 — For the Giants, the winning pitcher was Michael Gray, who pitched five innings with six strikeouts, with only four hits. Mark Rhodes was a great defensive player at second base, as was Nick Topolinski who had two great catches in center field.
The pitcher for the Yankees was Travis Wright, who went four strong innings, striking out 8 players. Also for the Yankees, Arndt made two nice defensive plays. |
