Harris fires 1-hitter as Angels stay on top

Jesse Danielewicz had a double to lead the Placer Sierra Bank Angels’ bats as they defeated the Elks Lodge 1691 Pirates 12-1 during last week’s Auburn Little League Major Division baseball action for ages 11-12 at Beggs Field.
Pitcher Max Harris, who had several one-hitters going in for the first-place Angels, had to settle for another one after having his no-hit bid broken up by Matt Dougherty in the sixth inning.
Harris helped his cause with a hit, and teammates Matt Ross, Jake Lopez, Ryan Lipsmeyer, and Mark Forrester also hit safely.
The Pirates’ Austin Maynard and Andrew Tuller each pitched three innings.
The Angels have already secured a spot in the June 15 championship game at Beggs. They will play the winner of a four-team playoff that will be contest in 5:30 and 7:45 p.m. games June 8 and June 11. After the June 15 title game, Auburn’s Major and 9-10 All-Stars will be announced.
Angels defeat Nation’s Rent Giants — For the Angels, Anthony Amara had a base hit, Forrester two singles and a double, Cody Van Riper a triple, and Ryan Lipsmeyer and Lane Turner doubles. Additional hits came from Danielewicz, Ross, Lopez and Harris.
The Giants had Nick Topolinski give a double along with Michael Gray, while Ben Schallberger, Mark Rhodes, and Buck Brogdon each had base hits.
Anchor Roofing White Sox 9, Auburn 20/30 Club Cubs 0 — For the White Sox, Spencer Zaputil pitched three innings and had six strikeouts. Tim Bendana, Jordan Neumann, and Ben Wolken all had a single and a double; Neumann and Wolken each had one RBI. Also, the team had a double play.
The Cubs had Jake Carlisle pitch for the first time and he had one strikeout. Nick Lithcum had three strikeouts and Adam Fry had six.
Tanko Well Drilling Braves 7, Edgewood Veterinary Clinic Yankees 1 — Peter Benedict struck out 14 for the Braves and had a base hit. John Kok got two base hits, Kyle Mathson had two doubles with an RBI, Bobby Henning had two singles and a double with three RBIs. Also for the Braves, Travis Tidd and Jacob Rice each had base hits.
For the Yankees, Travis Wright pitched three innings and had a base hit. Ryan Miller pitched the next one -plus innings, and also got a base hit. Jordan Arndt pitched the remaining one-plus innings.
White Sox 9, Yankees 3 — The White Sox had Zaputil, who had a home run in the third inning,as pitcher, and Michael Bell was 3-for-3 with two doubles and two RBIs.
For the Yankees, Arndt and Ryan Miller each had two singles. Also, Wade Andrews, Nathan Johnson, and Patrick Williams each had base hits.
Braves 11, Cubs 1 — The Braves had pitcher John Kok lead them to a victory over the Cubs with seven strikeouts in five innings. Also, Bobby Henning had a single and a home run with three RBIs, and Mathson hada single and two RBIs.
For the Cubs, Adam Fry pitched two innings with 5 strikeouts and also had a basehit. In addition, Derek Bovee had a single and scored the single run.
Giants 16, Auburn Journal Indians 6 — The Giants had Buck Brogdon as their winning pitcher, and Nick Toplinski had a great hitting game.
For the Indians, Jake Elia had an RBI. |
