Auburn Elks Lodge comes back to top Auburn 20/30

Last week Auburn Elks Lodge and Auburn 20/30 Little League Major baseball teams gave the crowd a nail-biting performance as the Elks pulled out a 4-3 victory. With no score at the end of the first inning, it looked to be a short game with 3-up and 3-down on both sides.

The second inning brought in one run from Elks Lodge with a single from Tim Bendana. Auburn 20/30 answered with three runs in the bottom half of the inning with a home run from Nick Linthicum bringing in two RBIs and singles from James Taber and PJ Bandanza.

The score remained 3-1 in 20/30’s favor for the next four innings. In the sixth inning, Elks came back with a double from Matt Dougherty and singles from Bendana and Schmidt for a final score of 4-3.

Auburn Journal 13, Placer Sierra Bank 10

Placer Sierra Bank took the lead in the fifth innings, but Auburn Journal rallied with four runs in the sixth to take the lead for good.

Ryan Studebaker had a double, a single and three RBIs to lead Auburn Journal. Buster Machado and Colton Davenport each had double and Caleb Mitchell had a pair of singles. Connor Hand and Caleb Mitchell each had three strikeouts on the mound.

Placer Sierra Bank got a triple, a single and two RBIs from Anthony Amara. Chris Holbrook had two singles, and Nigel Pell had a single and two RBIs. Amara had seven strikeouts in three innings of pitching and Ryan Lipsmeyer struck out five in three innings.

Placer Sierra Bank 7, Auburn Outdoor Sports 0

Amara and Lipsmeyer combined on a no-hitter as each pitched three scoreless innings for Placer Sierra Bank. Amara had seven strikeouts and Lipsmeyer added six. Pell and Eric Weaver each had RBI-singles.

Mike Gray had nine strikeouts in five innings of work for Auburn Outdoor Sports.

Auburn Elks Lodge #1691 5, Edgewood Veterinary Clinic 4

For the Elks, Griffin Quick hit a single and a double, had two RBIs and scored a run. Bryce Starks had two singles, an RBI and a run.

Tim Bendana had two singles and scored a run. Matt Doughery hit a single and Matt Ryan and Nick Rohde each scored a run. Quick pitched four strong innings and Dougherty pitched two scoreless innings in relief.

For Edgewood, Andy Manuola had a triple and two RBIs. Clay Campbell and Cameron Hennen each had a single and scored a run. Darrell Poganski hit a double and scored a run. Tim Smith hit a single and Steven Smith scored a run. Steven Smith pitched three strong innings.
