Placer Sierra Bank
claims majors title

In a thrilling Auburn Little League Major
Division title game, Placer Sierra Bank edged Union Bank 5-4 to
claim the title Friday night. Both teams advanced to this week’s
District 11 Tournament of Champions, which will be held at Beggs
Field.
Anthony Amara led Placer Sierra Bank to the title with
14 strikeouts in six innings of work on the mound. Ryan Lipsmeyer
led the PSB offense with a pair of singles. Nigel Pell had a single
and an RBI, Christopher Holbrook had a single and Eric Weaver, Colin
Brown and Philip Schoenhoff each knocked in one run.
Kyle
Pierce had a triple, two singles and one RBI to lead Union Bank.
Travis Tidd had a double and an RBI and Josh Klem had a single and
an RBI.
UB will open up play at the Tournament of Champions
on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. and PSB will begin at 8 p.m.
Auburn
Elks Lodge 15, Auburn Kiwanis Club 2 – Matt Dougherty smashed a home
run along with a single and finished with five RBIs to lead the Elks
over Kiwanis in playoff action last week. Griffin Quick added two
doubles and an RBI.
Tim Bendana had a single and a double
with two RBIs, Matt Steele had a double and Nick Rohde had two RBIs.
Nolan Wright, Matt Ryan and Jake Liomne each scored two runs. Quick
got the win at pitcher with three strong innings.
Bill Betts
had two singles to lead Kiwanis and Joe Marich had an
RBI.
Auburn Elks Lodge 18, Auburn Outdoor Sports 1 – The Elks
rolled in Friday’s playoff victory as Bryce Starks, singled, doubled
and knockd in four runs to pace the offense. Matt Dougherty had a
pair of doubles and two RBIs while Tim Bendana had a double, single
and two RBIs.
Griffin Quick also knocked in two runs as did
Nolan Wright. Matt Ryan scored four runs. Dougherty gave up one run
over three innings on the mound.
Thomas Reich scored on an
RBI-single by Cody Resendes for Auburn Outdoor Sports’ lone run.
Michael Gray smacked a double and Conor Gray and Allen Shanley each
singled.
