Little League Baseball
Auburn Majors advance at Area 1 All-Stars

The Auburn Little League Majors team defeated Tri-City 3-2 Thursday night in Rocklin as it continues it push to the District 11 Area 1 All-Star final.

Josh Klem pitched three innings and had the game-winning hit in the seventh when he singled home Ryan Lipsmeyer who had two singles on the night. Tim Bendana pitched an inning and had a single and Anthony Amara pitched the fifth and hit a double to tie the game in the sixth.

Michael Gray closed out the game for Auburn, pitching the sixth and seventh innings and getting four strikeouts. Travis Tidd played a solid game behind home plate, helping guide Auburn’s four pitchers.

The Auburn Majors play tonight at Tri-City in Rocklin against Lincoln at 7 p.m. for a chance to advance to the Area 1 final.

In other Little League action, the Auburn Juniors team, which consists of 13- and 14-year-olds, lost its game to Bear River 7-1.
