Little League
Baseball Auburn 9-10s take Area I All-Star
title

The Auburn Little
League 9-and 10-year-old team took home the District 11 Area 1
All-Star tournament Sunday, defeating Rocklin 18-8 in Foresthill.
Auburn won the championship after battling out of the
loser’s bracket and beating undefeated Rocklin twice in as many
days. Joe Marich and Tyler Lipsmeyer combined for five innings on
the mound and only allowed five hits and struck out six.
At
the plate Michael Reale was 1-for-2 with an RBI and was solid
throughout the Area 1 tournament behind the plate as the club’s
catcher. Nigel Pell was 2-for-2 with an in-the-park home run and had
the go-ahead RBI in the fifth inning that ended the game after five
due to the 10-run rule.
Lipsmeyer was 2-for-3 with two RBIs
and Tanner Anderson was 2-for-3 with an RBI.
Auburn will
continue its run for the District 11 championship today as it plays
Bear River at 5 p.m. in Foresthill.
Auburn Majors end
season
The Auburn Majors (11-and 12-year-olds) team
closed out its season on Friday after losing to Lincoln 4-3. Tim
Bendana had a solo home run and pitched three innings and had five
strikeouts. Anthony Amara pitched two innings and had three
strikeouts and had a single and an RBI at the plate. Josh Klem had a
triple, which scored Michael Gray in the top of the sixth. Kyle
Pierce had a double.
